Rainbow is an alternative, artist-run gallery and project space in Northside that was founded in 2021. With programming that prioritizes the creativity of queer and trans artists, our goal is to exhibit thought provoking work and host community events that celebrate queer joy.
Ian Hersko is the founder and co-curator of Rainbow and a professor of the Art Academy of Cincinnati. Before becoming an educator, he was a social worker, which informed his approach to teaching and community building. In his studio practice, he creates multimedia installations and objects that contemplate touch, loss and anti-monumentalism.
Silas Long is a multidisciplinary artist whose focus is in the expanded field of digital media and the psychosocial influence of artifice. Their practice explores the image's ability to simulate materiality through an integration of digital and analog processes. They are the photographer and co-curator of Rainbow and the curatorial assistant at Carl Solway Gallery.
